Roku Netflix Player Review

May 30, 2008 – 12:42 pm

I picked up a Roku Netflix Player. All in all I am happy. It works exactly as advertised, you can watch Netflix Instant movies on your TV. The player has a nice on screen interface. The remote is simple. There really isn't more to say, without any BS or being a pain it just works.

With my 1.5mb/s DSL connection the quality of the video ranges from Xvid DVD rip to R5. Usually DVD rip quality unless I have something else happening on my network. Movies take a minute or so to buffer while playing. Sometimes they will need another minute to buffer during the movie.

I do wish the player would continue to buffer the movie while paused. It would also be nice to see how far ahead the buffer is by pushing play or pause.

That is the only thing I can find wrong with the player, and it isn't even its fault, it is my DSL speed.

You can't beat it for $100.
